Some misunderstandings of masks

Masks are a necessity for everyone, but many people have some misunderstandings about masks. As a professional medical product manufacturer, here are some common misunderstandings used by masks.
1. Gauze mask can be used for dustproof and comfortable to wear
Dust masks are special labor protection products, and the state has special standards for their quality. Gauze masks should not be used as dust masks, because gauze masks have a dust-blocking efficiency of only about 10% for dusts below five microns that are harmful to humans. As a result, they cost money and fail to prevent dust hazards.
2. Non-woven dust masks can be cleaned and reused, saving costs
The common dustproof masks on the market are all made of melt-blown non-woven fabric materials, mostly polypropylene, usually called PP melt-blown fabric. It is an ultra-fine electrostatic fiber cloth that can catch dust. After the dust is caught by the ultra-fine electrostatic fiber cloth, it is extremely difficult to separate due to cleaning, and the washing will also destroy the electrostatic suction ability of the static electricity. Therefore, the non-woven fabric masks cannot be cleaned and need to be discarded after use. In order to save costs, some companies require employees to use masks for a period of time to clean and reuse them. Some mask manufacturers have also developed so-called "efficient and washable" dust masks with a layer of melt-blown non-woven fabric sandwiched between traditional gauze masks. , Are wrong and dangerous behaviors.
3. As long as you wear a dust mask, you will not get pneumoconiosis
First of all, dust masks have a certain filtering volume, and beyond its filtering capacity, it can not be dustproof. Therefore, for some places with high dust concentration, engineering transformation should be carried out to control the dust, and the dust concentration should be reduced below the allowable concentration, and then choose to wear a dust mask.
Secondly, dust masks cannot be dustproof if they are not worn correctly. This includes not only wearing in accordance with the instructions for use, ensuring that each time the wearing position is correct and suitable (not leaking), it must also be worn during dust collection operations, promptly discover signs of mask failure, and replace in time.
